What effects do the various parts of an injection molding machine have?
(1) Injection System The function of the injection system: The injection system is one of the most critical components of a Ningbo injection molding machine, and it typically comes in three main types: plunger-type, screw-type, and screw-preplasticization-plunger-type. Currently, the screw-type is the most widely used. Its function is to, during a single cycle of the injection molding machine, heat and plasticize a specified quantity of plastic within a prescribed time, then, under a set pressure and injection speed, inject the molten plastic into the mold cavity via the screw. After injection is complete, the molten material injected into the cavity is held at a fixed shape. Composition of the injection system: The injection system consists of plasticizing equipment and power-transmission equipment. In a screw-type injection molding machine, the plasticizing equipment mainly comprises the feeding device, barrel, screw, and nozzle assembly. The power-transmission equipment includes the injection cylinder, the injection-seat-moving cylinder, and the screw-drive unit (melt motor).
(2) Mold-Closing System The function of the mold-closing system is to ensure that the mold can be closed, opened, and the molded part ejected. At the same time, after the mold is closed, the system must provide adequate clamping force to counteract the cavity pressure generated by the molten plastic as it fills the mold cavity, thereby preventing mold opening and resulting in defects in the molded part. The components of the mold-closing system include the mold-closing mechanism, mold-adjusting mechanism, ejector mechanism, front and rear fixed platens, moving platen, mold-closing hydraulic cylinder, and safety protection devices. (3) Hydraulic System The function of the hydraulic transmission system is to supply power for the various motions required by the injection molding machine according to the process sequence and to meet the pressure, speed, temperature, and other requirements of each part of the machine. It is mainly composed of various hydraulic components and auxiliary hydraulic components, with the oil pump and motor serving as the power source for the injection molding machine. Various valves control the pressure and flow rate of the hydraulic fluid, thereby satisfying all the requirements of the injection molding process.
(3) Electrical Control System The electrical control system, in coordinated operation with the hydraulic system, can meet the process requirements of the injection molding machine—namely, pressure, temperature, speed, and holding time—and execute various programmed motions. It is primarily composed of electrical components, electronic parts, instrumentation, heaters, sensors, and other elements. Typically, four control modes are available: manual, semi-automatic, fully automatic, and adjustment.
(4) Modification of the Heating/Cooling System This section describes the heating system, which is used to heat the barrel and the injection nozzle. Injection molding machines typically employ electric heating bands as the heating element, mounted on the exterior of the barrel and equipped with segmented thermocouple monitoring. Heat is conducted through the barrel wall to provide the thermal energy required for plasticization. The cooling system, on the other hand, is primarily used to control the oil temperature; excessively high oil temperatures can lead to a variety of malfunctions, making temperature control essential. Another area requiring cooling is near the material discharge port of the barrel, to prevent the material from melting at this location and thereby ensuring normal material discharge.
